What temperature is best to vape at?Updated 9 months ago
Personal preference
This is a question that we get a lot, and the honest answer is ‘whichever temperature is right for you’. Storz & Bickel recommend using their products at 356°F (180°C); from personal experience, that temperature works great. Others like to take their herbs further.
How long have you got?
Factors that determine the optimum temperature to vape include the duration of a session and the cure of your herbs. If you’re in a rush and you want to fully extract your herbal load as quickly as possible, then turning up the temperature will help with that, and you’ll taste when the flavor goes. Anywhere over 365°F (185°C) will help to achieve this.
Conversely, if you want to take your time over a session and enjoy a nice, long, slow extraction, turning the temperature down will help to elongate things. Anywhere below 365°F (185°C) will help to keep things tasty, cool, and relaxed.
Are your herbs cured?
If your herbs haven’t been sufficiently cured, you’ll likely need to turn the temperature up or allow your herbs to pre-heat a little longer in the oven.
Temperature vs. time
It’s important to remember that time is almost as important as temperature. When you turn the temperature down, you won’t get instant clouds, but they will come. You need to enjoy a couple more flavorful priming draws while waiting for the clouds.
Pre-heat your herbs for best results
Loading your herbs, setting the vape to a sub-365°F temperature, and allowing it to pre-heat is also a great way to increase cloud production at lower temperatures.
When are you vaping?
If you’re vaping earlier in the day, then you ‘may’ prefer to keep your session short and your temperature low, so 2 minutes at 365°F. If you’re having a pre-bedtime vape, notching the temperature up and taking longer over your session may be better for getting you where you need to be.
